ALL PRINTING PROCESS GUIDELINE

Start T-SHIRT Printing and Other's Business Guideline

You must understand, there is nothing is really universal can do everything in the world, however, it only can be meet some requirement in acceptable tolerence.

Here we would like to share some guideline for you to choose a rights equipment.

1. What product you are interested to market / promote?

Sublimation (Multi / Full Colour Image)

  • There is some aspect you need to consider, Heat Press Machine (even distribution heat in surface) is not only a main key to get good printing result, in fact Colour Profile playing the main core in Sublimation too, which is called ICC Profile, the ICC profile will give accuration colour result is base on each supplier Printing Media + INK, different supplier paper and ink will not the same result or even worts if you using other supplier ICC profile.
  • You do not need a very expensive or high pressure machine on sublimation transfer, important is the heat distribution which can able to transfer your colour completely on your fabric.
  • Basically Sublimation is only able transfer on White Polyester base fabric only, unless you choose to use Sublimation On 100% Cotton (more information please contact our product consultant)
  • If Sublimation on Subtrate such as mugs, jigsaw puzzle, tile, wood and etc..and you must have the products pre-coated with polymer, which factory is spray on the products, without coated with polymer is POSSIBLE? YES, use OKI white toner printer + hard surface material. ( contact our product consultant)
  • A good Sublimation transfer will very durable in washing and colour fastness compare to VINYL, Transfer Paper, DTG, NO CUT transfer or even Silkscreen printing.
  • Any kind of heat press such as clamshell, swing or combo type will do, Swing type are preferrable if doing sublimation on Non Standard Thickness product such as Wooden Plaque, Tiles or others

HTV PU / PVC (Heat Transfer Vinyl)

  • HTV is focus main to single colour printing or multi spot colour vector design on small volume order becuase tradisional silkcreen will need to make many block according to each different colours.
  • is best for order on demand and could be good choice for personalized in fact silkcreen printing not a good choice to do this kind of order.
  • Quality HTV material is better washability
  • The main key to get good result is HEAT PRESS, you need high pressure heat press and even heat distribution, example home iron and heat press machine, if just want it to stick, you can use Home Iron but why you need heat press machine?
  • The process is cut the vinyl mirror image using plotter and manually weed (peel) away whatever access on the vinyl, place on the fabric and high pressure press for 10~15sec base on different manufacturer material

Transfer Paper (Inkjet or Laser)

  • Transfer paper is suitable for logo print or big solid Image with raster multi colour image like photo or multi colour which is HTV couldn't do it or have it.
  • There are 2 kinds of technologies for transfer paper which is using INKJET technoloy (which is using PIGMENT INK) and Laser Technology (which is using powder form)
  • There are many brand in the market such as TRANSMAX, AIRWAVE, NEENAH PAPER , FOREVER and many more, the most porpular in our region is NEENAH 3G DARK Opaque for INKJET technology, INKJET It takes 8 ~ 16 minutes per A4 / A3 and LASER Print 10 A4 just need 1 minute.
  • INKJET have lower investment compare to LASER and INKJET is SLOWER production than LASER
  • Process is Printing with INKJET or LASER and Contour Cut with plotter, Weed (peel) access on transfer paper and lift up with Masking Tape if necessary, Press with high pressure to get high durability on washing.
  • High Pressure Heat Press and recommended to achieve good wash durability, because it can stick firmed and grip on the fabric texture.
  • Raster Solid IMAGE is recommended to use DTG

PRINT AND CUT (PRINTABLE PU/PVC)

  • PRINTABLE PU is suitable for logo print or big solid Image with raster multi colour image like photo or multi colour which is HTV couldn't do it or have it.
  • is more durable than Transfer Paper and more to industrial production choice becuase production is faster in ROLL format 0.5m x 50m
  • Printable PU basically is using ECO- SOLVENT ink technology which is printed image colour is more lasting compare to PIGMENT ink.
  • INVESTMENT is much higher than normal Inkjet transfer paper such as RM30,000 to RM50,000 per unit, in fact printing speed can achieve reach 6 A4 in 30~45 minutes using PRINT AND CUT 2 in 1 printer / machine
  • The Process is exactly the same as Transfer Paper, Contour Cut with plotter, Weed (peel) access on transfer paper and lift up with Masking Tape if necessary, Press with high pressure to get high durability on washing.
  • High Pressure Heat Press and recommended to achieve good wash durability, because it can stick firmed and grip on the fabric texture.
  • Raster Solid IMAGE is recommended to use DTG

DTG (Direct to Garment)

  • DTG is a short form from Direct To Garment Printer, the main idea for this technology is printing on demand with big raster or vector image which much easier process compare to CMYK silkscreen process but not suitable for logo print business
  • The washability not as good as Transfer Paper but good in hand feel, estimated wash qty as 10~20 times.
  • The process is apply or spray pre treatment, dry with heat press, print direct on T shrit after pre treatment dry, the production speed is about 20~30 T shirt per day (base on 8hr)
  • Do not required good heat press.
  • INVESTMENT is estimated RM30,000 to RM120,000 , if business graphic print is 30% of business, it will be recommended using white toner printer NO-CUT technology. (more detail contact our product consultant)

NO-CUT PRINT Technology (White Toner Printer CMY+W)

  • NO-CUT Print is the best and FASTEST printing process technology which speed can achieved 3 minutes per print on T shirt
  • NO-CUT Print is using LED Printing Technology which is most effective on light and even Dark colour fabric.
  • Is focus more to 70% commercial logo print on demand business and could be 30% Graphic Print like DTG (limited to BLACK T Shirt only) for result good soft hand feel with halftone effect.
  • INVESTMENT is about RM15,000 ~ RM30,000
  • The technology idea is similar to silkscreen but without need any BLOCK, CUT or WEED for CMYK graphic print, the result achieved without any white background.
  • Raster Solid Graphic IMAGE is recommended to use DTG

DST or HD PRINT V6

  • Is hybrid process Digital Print with RICOH Laser Printer + Silkscreen to achieved result like NO CUT PRINT but need BLOCK for white base on graphic print, the result achieved without any white background.
  • Process is suitable for Solid Graphic Image / Vector and also suitable for Logo print too which is focus bigger print than transfer paper , printable PU or DTG instead of personalized print on demand
  • It need block to screen white on colour image which is printed by Digital / Laser Printer on PET film.
  • The registration of white won't be accurate as NO CUT PRINT, because NO CUT PRINT is using 100% Digital Technology process.
  • INVESTMENT RM2500 to RM400,000

Here is the example process of Digital Silkscreen Transfer by SK Colour Thailand

SCREEN T-SHIRT PRINTING

  • Screen printing is the most trandisional or conventional method in T-Shirt production industries
  • It's focus more to Single spot colour process, it's has to be making each screen block by print on tracing paper / film expose, expose sceen block by expose with UV lamp or spot light with applying emulsion on the scrreen, wask away the access which is unexpose screen block by water.
  • Multi Spot colour has to be making many block accoding to colour a required on the T-Shirt
  • CMYK process is more complex, It has to make fine positive film and expose the fine screen MESH
  • Screen process has many method like SPOT, CYMK Process, 4 colour simulated , discharge, plastisol printing and etc...
  • INVESTMENT RM

3. How to choose a right heat press?

Why you need a heat press instead of home Iron can be use for sticking the material on the fabric or shirt? here is some important point when you choose your heat press

  • SUBLIMAITON- this technology do not need high pressure requirement, eventually heat even distribution are much important.
  • HOW TO KNOW MY HEAT PRESS IS HEAT EVEN DISTRIBUTION?- Simple, just print onl;y SOLID BLACK Colour size larger than your heat press heater platen using sublimation + dye sublimation paper, press on a white polyester cloth and you will the result of printing.

Bad Quality Heat Distrubution

Good Quality Heat Distrubution

  • HTV, PRINT AND CUT, TRANSFER PAPER, NO CUT TRANSFER- Very particular to heat even distribution and especially PRESSURE, the high pressure the higher firmed grib is on fabric, it also affected to washability quality, below video show the thinner material become due to more firmed grib on the fabric after press with high pressure heat press.
